Sometimes you just need a good-looking but inexpensive sword. This one will fit the bill much better than some weird stainless steel mess - the blade and fittings are high carbon steel, and the grip is leather over wood. Ditto the scabbard: wood core, leather wrap, steel fittings. Yeah, most of your fyrdsmen should be carrying spears or axes, but most everyone *wants* to be carrying a sword; and for dress/costume/faire wear, this is a good choice. The edge and tip are blunt, 2-3mm wide. For viking on a budget, these guys are pretty good looking. And, in the true spirit, you could use one to raid for upgrades!
note: this is the second generation of these, now with a kinder/ gentler / more rounded tip. As Vikings do. Therion's #1 Rule of Reenactment Combat: Kill your friends, but don't hurt them.
