This excellent HEMA sport-fighting federschwert features a 9260 spring steel blade with really nice distal taper: thicker at the schilt (5mm), thinner about two thirds of the way up for flex (3mm), and thicker (4mm) and wider at the tip. It flexes 1/2" under a 6 oz weight (the SCA standard flex test). The guard is ramped to allow easy placement of a gloved thumb onto and off of the blade during guard transitions and the pommel is indexed to the flat of the blade, making it second nature to distinguish proper edge alignment with the rearward hand. The long grip is a flattened oval wood core with a tight cord overwrap for a firm grip, and the pommel is peened through. This feder handles like a dream.
